In just under a year, the global network of the economy of communion will meet in Argentina, 35 years after its birth, to go together to the roots of that inspiration that can change the economy and cultivate peace, when we live it
Mark date and place in your agenda: from May 24 to 30, 2026 in Argentina. Why? Because in this war economy in which we find ourselves without wanting it, we would like to give voice together to an inspiration that for 35 years, when lived, can change the economy and make it an engine of peace. A somewhat unusual and special anniversary, to be “celebrated” by meeting and living that inspiring experience firsthand. Yes, because celebrating is beautiful, but even more beautiful is going to the roots of the inspiration that gave birth to us and trying to live once again that experience that calls, attracts and moves people from all over the world, even today.
In that distant 1991, the economy of communion was born by raising the bar of the communion of goods - an experience that was already revolutionary in itself - and bringing it to the level of business management: creating, starting and managing companies not to increase one's economic assets but to generate resources to share with those who do not have enough for a dignified life, are going through a moment of serious deprivation or live on the margins of society.
Chiara Lubich reminded us many times that resources do not move by themselves - from those who have more to those who have less - but it is hearts that move them, when they themselves live that unique experience of encounter and union called communion.
This is why we would like to celebrate this anniversary first by living that profound meeting between hearts, between the hearts of those who share resources and those who share needs, of those who share time, energy, knowledge, relationships, dreams, and brick by brick build opportunities for a better life. After arriving in Argentina from the five continents, in fact, we will meet for a few days in small groups in different locations in the country or in neighbouring countries, where the EoC promotes, supports and carries out human development projects and actions to support the basic needs of people and communities, paths that transform people's lives.
All of us will be there, the protagonists of these projects together with those from many parts of the world who contribute to them in different ways, through the communion of goods, resources, and profits: to get to know each other, to dialogue, to listen to each other deeply, to learn from each other. In a word, to open our hearts to the meeting. And after these days of family, of community, we will all meet together in a final event, to celebrate the beauty of an economy that becomes human, generator of peace and dignity, when it is moved by communion.
It will be a new experience, to be built and discovered, to be lived with the mind, heart and hands open to be transformed by the profound encounter with others.
