The event will be divided into two phases and will include an immersion in Latin American communities, followed by a congress in Buenos Aires
The Economy of Communion (EoC) celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2026 and has already begun inviting its entire global network to a unique celebration, which will take place from May 25 to 30 in Latin America. With the theme “A path of regeneration - 35 years of the Economy of Communion”, the event will bring together participants from different countries for a unique experience of encounter, celebration, and commitment.
Unlike traditional formats, the event will be divided into two complementary phases, with the purpose of providing a practical experience of the culture of communion, a distinctive feature of the EoC since its foundation in 1991.
First phase: encounter with local experiences (May 25-27)
About 20 local initiatives in Latin America will welcome small groups of participants in the first phase of the event. The groups will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in local communities and initiatives rich in identity and traditional knowledge but suffering from the consequences of the current economic system. These initiatives seek to put the culture of the Economy of Communion into practice with the aim of transforming the socioeconomic context in which they find themselves through human flourishing and entrepreneurship. Isaías Hernando, coordinator of the international commission of the Economy of Communion, said:
"Our proposal is that each person become involved in the daily life of these local initiatives and that, by looking at the world from this encounter, they experience the potential for regeneration and transformation that is born through communion and reciprocity".
Participants are expected to arrive at their chosen communities on May 24.
Second phase: celebration and commitment in Buenos Aires (May 29 and 30)
After immersing themselves in local initiatives, all participants will gather in Buenos Aires for the final stage, which will last a day and a half. The program, which will be announced shortly, will be laboratory-like in nature, with active participation and much exchange expected from those present. Hernando added:
"The goal of this day and a half will, of course, be to celebrate the first 35 years of the EoC, but also to commit ourselves to implementing the next steps together in order to better respond to the challenges of the current economic system and to come ever closer to fulfilling the vocation of the Economy of Communion"
