La Casita Estrella, on the outskirts of Paraná, has been supporting vulnerable families for almost 20 years. It offers educational support, workshops, and community spaces that strengthen trust and reciprocity. In El Volcadero, we find a situation of extreme marginalization, but with glimmers of hope. Here, training initiatives and housing improvements carried out by members of the Economy of Communion together with other local actors demonstrate how communion can transform realities and generate shared hope.

"On the riverbank, meeting the other."
In the province of Entre Ríos, on the outskirts of the city of Paraná, lies Casita Estrella, a social center founded more than thirty years ago on the banks of the Paraná River. Inspired by the spirituality of unity, it promotes the development, integration, and dignity of coastal families, Bolivian rural workers, and local farmers, all communities with many needs and a lack of opportunities for development.
Its mission is to accompany the community in achieving integral well-being, strengthening family life and bonds of reciprocity. Through cooking and sewing workshops, school support, literacy, and health care, Casita Estrella has become a true space of fraternity and concrete communion, where each person can give and receive. Various local members of the Economy of Communion actively participate and support the activities.
The proposal also includes a visit to El Volcadero, a former garbage dump that has now been transformed into a symbol of hope and dignified work. There, families who once lived off garbage collection are promoting new forms of inclusion and care for the environment, showing how life can be reborn on the margins of the system. Entrepreneurs from the Economy of Communion, together with other local organizations, have created training workshops in trades that have provided dignified employment opportunities for the neighborhood's residents, as well as workshops on community leadership and the construction of bathrooms and housing improvements to enhance the quality of life of the residents.
During the experience, participants in the Economy of Communion 2026 meeting will be able to share activities with local families and volunteers, learn about educational and trade projects, and reflect on how communion can heal social and economic wounds.
There will also be a discussion at one of the local universities, with the participation of various speakers who will address the Economy of Communion from different perspectives.
