We would like to invite you to Santa María, Catamarca, a place with centuries of history and ancestral knowledge. Here, in the Calchaquí Valley, you will find inspiring experiences that combine tradition and community. We invite you to join us on a journey through stories that show how the values of collective work and cultural identity can transform realities.

Our first stop is the Aurora Center, a space for technical, artistic, and cultural training for young people and adults. Through the teaching of crafts such as textile art, ceramics, metalwork, and design, cultural heritage is preserved. Born under the charism of the Focolare Movement and supported by entrepreneurs of the Economy of Communion, the goal is to train artists, technicians, and entrepreneurs with ecological awareness, social commitment, and fraternal values.

This process gave rise to Apacha, a cultural center inspired by the values of the Economy of Communion, which today produces and markets handcrafted products. Apacha opens up new markets for the work of artisans without losing its ancestral essence.

We continue with the Tinku Kamayu Cooperative, a group of women spinners and weavers. They transform llama fiber and sheep's wool into yarns and unique garments, preserving the natural colors and identity of the Valley. This Economy of Communion venture prioritizes the relationships between the women who make up the Cooperative and means for the women who are part of it the possibility of escaping from a situation of vulnerability that is very present in this community, with a source of dignified work and the fruit of their efforts.
Each garment is woven with patience and community strength, connecting the wearer to the culture and the territory.

We then visited the Musquy Community, a network of 22 families spread across eight communities. They offer a responsible tourism experience: weaving and basketry workshops, tours of archaeological sites, singing songs by the river, and homemade meals served in each home. Solidarity Tourism, as an alternative source of income for these communities, has been supported and financed by AMU and accompanied by Economy of Communion companies that have been pioneers in this field.
Musquy teaches us that another way of traveling is possible: caring for culture and the environment and generating genuine economic opportunities.

In San José, Santa María, we meet Pikito Calchaky, the Economy of Communion venture of a couple, Norma and Juan. With the audacity to reveal the invisible, they make fruit liqueurs, medicinal herbs, and sweets.
Each product is the result of craftsmanship that preserves the memory of the land and the essence of Calchaquí.

We look forward to seeing you in Santa María, Catamarca, to discover, learn, and be part of these experiences that convey the same message: that the future can be fair, supportive, and deeply ancestral.

POSTI DISPONIBILI

We invite you to Santa María, Catamarca, where tradition and community come together in transformative experiences. Discover the Aurora Center, Apacha, Tinku Kamayu, Musquy, and Pikito Calchaky: projects where the Economy of Communion is very present in daily life and in the development and evolution of the projects, rescuing ancestral knowledge, promoting collective work, and demonstrating that a just and supportive future is possible.
Lingue: Italiano, Spagnolo
