An entrepreneur with an extraordinary inventiveness - so much so that he contributed 35 new patents - François Neveux (1936-2006), from the moment of his working debut, lived out his work activity with a not so common attention to interpersonal relationships. When he found out about the Economy of Communion, promoted by Chiara Lubich, foundress of the Focolare Movement - he moved to Brazil where he put his talent, professional experience and money at the service of the development of this project. Through the accounts of those who knew him, the authors traces over his adventure as a professional and as a person.

Special Issue of Impresa Sociale
Impresa Sociale - July/September 2009
Impresa Sociale is a monographic journal, edited by Euricse, the European Research Institute on Cooperative and Sociale Enterprise, in Trent. Having begun more than 19 years ago, the journal has brought ahead a visionary and pioneering mission: to promote, accompany and help the complex reality of non-profit in Italy to self-evolve. The journal has followed all the stages of social and entrepreneurial growth in this sector, becoming always more important. It is now one of the sector´s major points of reference.
The latest issue to press, N.3 of 2009, is entirely dedicated to the Economy of Communion. As Luca Fazzi writes in the journal´s editorial, "This issue of the Journal, dedicated entirely to the topic of the Economy of Communion, wants to provide important stimulus for reflection, considering within which boundaries can one legitimately speak about social businesses and highlighting, at the same time, how the challenge of doing social business is that of contaminating the non-profit world with that of the market."
Ethos of the Market

Luigino BruniBruno Mondadori, Milano, 2010
In the last two centuries, capitalism has reached extraordinary economic, technological and civil results, playing an important role in transforming society. Howver, it has lost on the playing ground of fraternity. That is why, today, capitalism has become obsolete. The crisis at the beginning of the third millenium (from terrorism to the environment, from finance to energy) shows with extraordinary strength that the market economy is using up every force of social and incivilizing change, because we´re paying the consequences in the area of individual freedom with the coins of environment and social relationships.

La crisi economica - appello a una nuova responsabilità (The Economic Crisis - an appeal for new responsibility)

Città Nuova Publisher
The crisis that we are living is not only economic or financial. It collides with the model of development that we have followed for the last two centuries, pushing us to a new and radical reflection on capitalism. From different disciplines - economy, politics and theology - the authors outline a way of reading the profound reasons for the crisis. Though recognizing the goodness of the market´s values, they single out the concept of going beyond the economic culture founded on individual-centeredness and profit outside of the rules, and that of returning to an economy of the ethics and values of gratuitousness and reciprocity as the way out of the current situation.

Dizionario di Economia Civile (Dictionary of Civil Economy)
The civil dimension of the economy in which the market is an open space for reciprocity and solidarity.
Città Nuova, Rome, 2009
pp. 832, € 65,00
Through three guiding principles - theoritical backing, experiences and people (scholars, workers and entrepreneurs) - the Dictionary intends to give "voice" to the civil dimension of economy.
Starting from the conviction that market, business and economy are also in themselves places of gratuitousness and fraternity, civil economy proposes a humanism with various dimensions. It´s one in which market is not fought against but lived in as a space open to the principles of reciprocity and solidarity, and therefore capable of buildling up the city. An economic science and praxi that make room for the principle of gift within (and not beside) economic theory.

Microfinanza (Microfinance)
To give credit to relationships
Il Mulino Saggi, Bologna, 2009
With preface by Stefano Zamagni (in Italian)
Microfinance represents more of a cultural revolution than an economic one, and more anthropological than political. A supportive financial system for social and economic development is set at the base and acts on assumptions radically different in respect to the traditional ones, and insists on a process of involvement that starts from the bottom but is two-directional. Only in reciprocity, in fact, can a supportive relationship promote the blossoming of potential without humiliating the dignity of the beneficiary.

L'Impresa civile (The Civil Enterprise)
An Italian path towards the market economy
Egea, Milano 2009
In this age of economic and financial crisis many things need to be rethought if we want to imagine and build a market economy and a model of sustainable development. Among these "things" is, undoubtfully, the business enterprise. It´s not enough that it produces quality, income, occupations - not even that it pays the right taxes. It´s always more evident that the business institution is called to "something more" which can truly render it a friend to the city in such a way that it would be considered as a builder-element of the civil fabric.

Oltre (beyond) l'homo oeconomicus
happiness, responsibility, economy of relationships
Città Nuova, Rome, 2008
"money doesn't make one's happiness": this popular saying is nowadays confirmed by surveys about happiness which underscore the paramount importance of "relational goods". Nevertheless, social sciences keep on proposing narrowing visions of human individuals (from the homo oeconomicus to the homo sociologicus etc.). It's therefore necessary to bring about a new foundation of the individual which may take into account all his dimensions.
