Today, in Castelgandolfo, the first day of "Charisms, economy and management" took place. It is geared towards religious congregations and institutions who already have a collaborative relationship with the Economy of Communion, as well as orders who simply know about the Focolare Movement and the EoC.

More than 70 are present here, from about 12 congregation and institutes, plus numerous lay-persons who work or collaborate with works that belong to religious congregations. The goal of the convention was to give space to reflections and exchange of experiences on how the EoC, together with other proposals, represents a good answer to the new and important challenges which the charismatic realities, orders and religious institutes are currently facing.

The morning opened with Luigino Bruni´s theme on "Economy and the Marian Profile". After a general introduction on what charisms are for the economy, he proposed a parallel between the work generated by a charism and some of the stages in Mary´s life. This showed the necessity to see the life of these works from a new perspective, trying to discern the stage that each one is living and rediscover in those stages the divine path of God´s love.
In the afternoon, Giovanni Mazzanti, Eva Gullo and Alberto Frassineti from GM&P Consulting Network told their experience as consultants who are in contact with congregations and religious institutes, working to reorganize works and formation. In particular, they explained the approach that comes from their experience, which is that of looking at a work from three cornerstones: the specific mission of the work, the consequent redefinition of the organizational system, and the valorization of working in communion within the work itself.
This was followed by group work in which the participants were able to deepen the topics presented and exchanged their own experiences. Before dinner, everyone met again in a plenary session to share what had emerged during the group work.
After dinner, there was a special artistic moment  presented by film director Fernando Muraca who shared his life and work experience, alternated by screenings of two of his short films which have won various awards.
If we want to give a general idea of the guiding thread that wove through the first day, it could be described as the amazement to find ourselves together, in communion. It would also be the joy to discover that, among the various challenges which charismatic realities must face today, there is discernment in knowing how to again set down the mission of one´s own charismatic reality, until the point of "death" that some are having to face be followed by a resurrection of the charism - perhaps in new and unexpected ways.
